Frequently Asked Questions

Who do you work with?

I work with developing and struggling readers, typically ages 5–9. This includes students who need extra support with phonics, spelling, reading fluency, or comprehension, as well as students with dyslexia or suspected dyslexia.

Where does tutoring take place?

Sessions take place in a calm, supportive space within Mirror Mental Health. This environment allows students to focus, feel comfortable, and build confidence while learning.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

At this time, tutoring sessions are in person only. My lessons include many hands-on, multi-sensory activities that help students engage multiple pathways in the brain while learning to read and spell.

How much does tutoring cost?

Sessions are $75 for a one-hour lesson. The first visit includes the assessment and follow-up consultation.

Do parents need to help with practice at home?

Some light practice between sessions can help reinforce new skills. I typically send home simple activities once a week that students can use to review what we’ve learned. These materials are meant to stay at home and are not treated as formal homework—they’re just an optional way to support your child’s progress.

How often should my child attend tutoring?

Most students attend two sessions per week, which provides consistent practice and helps build reading skills more quickly. However, the appropriate frequency can range from one to three sessions per week, depending on your child’s needs, learning pace, and where they are in the process.
